Product discovery

Product discovery is how shoppers find products that fit their needs, increasingly through conversation and guidance rather than search boxes and filters.

What it means

Traditional discovery relies on the shopper knowing the right keyword or working through filters. Conversational discovery lets them describe the outcome they want (an occasion, a constraint, a goal) and be guided to matching products, with the reasoning made explicit.

Why filters fall short

Filters encode the merchant’s taxonomy, not the shopper’s intent. “Running shoes for flat feet under ₹5,000” blends attributes a filter set rarely captures. A conversation can interpret the whole request and narrow to a genuine fit.

For example

Instead of ticking six filter boxes, a shopper asks one question and gets a curated, explained set.

Common questions

Product discovery, in brief.

How is conversational product discovery different from search?

Search matches keywords to a catalog. Conversational discovery interprets intent (occasion, constraints, goals) and guides the shopper to a fitting product with reasons.

Does it work without a big catalog?

Yes. Even a modest catalog benefits, because the value is in matching intent to the right item, not in sheer volume.
